Building Backlinks to a Domain you haven't already purchased

Can you build backlinks to a domain you haven't already purchased? I was thinking about creating another new website about health, and I wanted to buy a .com domain, but for some reasons I'll won't explain because it is extremely difficult to explain, I can't buy it until the 20 of July. Can I start building backlinks to a domain I haven't already purchased? When I buy that domain, in the 20 of July, will the backlinks stay? Is there any problem in creating backinks to a domain you haven't already purchased?

If you start building links now, Google may try to crawl the link from now to the 20th and will not give credit a non-existant website. Unless you're sure that Google will recrawl those backlinks, I'd just wait a few days.

Backlinks built to an unidentified domain will not be effective...Once google spider finds these backlinks and recognises that its an invalid site then it will not be crawled again, I strongly recommend you build on site SEO before considering offsite SEO.

The other potential problem is a high probability that someone else could find that domain and purchase it before you.. unless it is a trademark.

yeah.. you're right and I thougt about that too, but the probabilities of someonefollowing the link is 1 between 100, but anyway I think I'll wait because of what simmo125 and sevnrock have told me

Building back links through various sites always helpful. but a back link in the non follow blog wont be of that much use i guess.

You could build links to any site you wish...I just wonder WTH you would want to without owning it-

If it's an unregistered domain name, there's no point building invalid links. Register it first and then build the links.

The ideal scenario is to build the site first, do some on-page optimization and then build links.
