Building Backlinks to 301 Redirects

Is there any harm to building links to a site that 301 redirects? I have a site, and I have some related domains. I plan on eventually building a site for those domains all related to the live site (offering same services, same info, etc.) would there be any harm to building links to those domains now?

Thanks for any help or advice :)

I wouldn't think of there being any harm at all of building those links - once you remove the 301 redirect later (which is what I assume you intend on doing), those links will start counting for this site (but will take time and they might not count for as much because Google might interpret them to have been links that were intended for the redirected domain, it'll take google time to re-index and re-adjust the value of those links).
