BUILDING BACKLINKS - Need Your HELP!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I'm with CB for a while but never used SEO for promotion, I had couple of sales through YouTube, and submitting articles that obviously are no longer useful for getting traffic after 2-3 days and that's it. I've read a couple of e-books, read a tons of posts - how to build backlinks and how to rank my page on the 1st spot on Google. However I got more questions about it. I need to know what are low, medium and high quality backlinks? I need to know how much time Google need to index those backlinks? Is it true that the content should be unique for every page in order to get a backlink? And just to make clear, I put anchor text in my article with the URL of my main article/landing page - that's 1 backlink (if it's do-follow of course)?

    Thank you

To get backlinks its not necessary to have unique content, but to get higher placement, you need unique contents. For Backlinks I would suggest that hire freelancer to build links for you if you don't want to waste your time behind learning how to build backlinks? its not like that you will learn everything by making a single post.

I agree but I don't have money to spend on some link builder, I rather do it myself. That's why I need your help, that's what forums are for... so I appreciate if you can tell me more or answer some of my questions above.

    Thank you

Hi mate. What sort of niche are you attacking? Here's a basic link formula that I use on most sites I want to get moving up the SERPS (depending on competitiveness & movement I tweak accordingly). What you're really looking for is steady growth of links over time - you need to be patient:

Month 1 - A handful of directories and articles
Month 2 - More directories, articles and add some social bookmarks
Month 3 - All the above plus some Press realeases and "quality links"*

*Quality links being links on established sites in similar niches to your own. Look for sites with some pagerank, that are well established and have a decent quantity of backlinks themselves.

Month 4 - 6 - Rinse and repeat adding more and more "quality links"

NB - This is just my opinion. Other people's techniques will vary. I'm not up for an argument about link-building, just wanted to try and help :)

    Hi @AidyUK,

Thanks for the tips. However I don't think that I'll need 3 or more months to rank on 1st spot because the keywords I'm targeting are with around 1000 searches per month and they aren't that much competitive. I'm into gaming niche and I want to rank for like 5-6 keywords with 1000 +/- searches per month for a start. Have you ever tried to rank for this kind of keywords? How much visits/hops should I expect per keyword if I'll be on 1st spot? I know that this depends on many factors but I hope that you can tell me approximately...

    Thanks once again

Here’s what you need to know:

    1) This method is so effective that it feels wrong – find a way to have users generate content. They’ll likely want to share it with their friends so will link to it. Not only that, the content they generate will build search engine traffic for you for free as well.
Free content, traffic, and links. You don’t have to do any work yourself at all once this is set up right and gets going.
    2) Google a phrase you want to rank well for (say, “blue widgets”). Look at the top results and use backlink analyzers to look at the links that point to the top results. Usually, a significant proportion of those links can be replicated.
While powerful in and of itself, this method can be improved. First, you don’t want to waste your time replicating links that are from not so valuable sites – and you want to maximize your time spent trying to gain links from high page rank (PR) sites. Finally, it might be easier to get links from sites that tend to link to other sites.
There are tools that take those factors into account but they are not free usually.
This is a dependable, extremely useful way to build links.
Backlink watch - this is the best value I’ve seen so far in terms of effectiveness for a free backlink checker. If you know a better, free tool, please let me know. It does not organize things for you, has a lot of repeats, and often isn’t up, however.
Online utility backlink checker – this is more convenient to use as it organizes the links by domain name, but does not get everything.
    3) Submit to Best of the Web! Directory. It is such a good move that, if you were a client of mine, I would have no hesitation in recommending you do so today (assuming you have a budget, want to grow your traffic, don’t have 100 links from .edu sites, and so on).
If you don’t feel comfortable investing $149 per year, they should have an option to give it a test ride. Click the link, check it out, and if you don’t want to generate some income for me, just Google it.
    4) Submit to free directories. This is an interesting list that might help, organized by PR. http://www.addurl.nu/ And for those on a tight budget, this list of the top 25 directories for cheap value is worth looking into. I would recommend against Kahuki (from that list), however.
    5) An increasing number of sites use tools that make it so that any text copied from them automatically append a link – you can see one such free tool for wordpress here.
This method assumes that your content is high quality and interesting enough that people are going to be copying from it.
    6) Create a free tool that others can use and that links back to you. A classic example of this tactic is Wordpress blog templates, where designing a top-notch blog template can mean hundreds of free links.
To do this right, you have to research your market and figure out something that it needs but doesn’t have. Then you might pay a programmer to develop it. Spread the word and watch the links flow in.
    7) Run an award ceremony. Rank the top 50 blogs in a niche and make a nice award badge they can display on their blog (linking back to you, of course). Or get readers to nominate the top blogs and vote on them, which can be an order of magnitude more effective.
This is extremely effective because bloggers are the type of people who are likely to respond with link love. I love this tactic because I get to make people feel good while generating a good ROI. The usual response rate for this type of tactic is something like 5-20%, but when I do a good job with it, I usually get 20-40%. This is a great way to do good for your website while generating good feelings and making people feel special.
    8) This is one of the best tactics I’ve seen for certain situations. Let’s say you need to build links to a site that provides “hot dog grills.” Could be a real challenge. This’ll make it a lot easier.
Search for “hot dog grills” plus “no longer offered” or “site has been taken down.”
Run a backlink analysis of the sites that are no longer up, find the sites that link to them, and contact them. Explain that the site they were linking to is no longer functional, but yours is – and voila, links.
    The tactic explained at SEOMoz
    9) Buy cheap domains and have them link to your higher quality sites. Could be hard to make sure you are getting value for your dollar with this method, however.
    10) Use a brand tracker and, when someone mentions your brand name, ask them to link to you. This is an easy way to get good links
    11) Publish an infograph, or a picture that represents data and is fun, interesting and clever – those are widely shared and great linkbait

If this help you don't forget to give a thanks lol

    Have fun

    Hello bobe99,

What you mean is you don't know what is quality backlinks? Now here is my idea about your queries.

When you say back links, it is a link that point in to your site. Got it? If we say quality back links, these are the links who pointed your site that came from related sites having high page rank.

It is very easy to do. Everybody thinks that it is difficult but I think it is not. They just feel bored upon doing the repetitive routine of building quality back links pointing into their site. Here are things you need to. Remember to focus on one keyword first then keep promoting it for at least one month.

Do a keyword research in your niche.

    1. Use the google keyword tool because it's free to use. Find those high search volume 3 or more keyword phrase because most 2 word keywords are highly competitive and you might can't compete with other blogs.

    2. If you already found the keyword, try to type it in google with a quote on it like this, "your keyword here". See how many pages who tried to promote those keywords. If it is less than 50k it's better but if it is less than 100k it's good but don't cross over on 100k search pages.

    3. Now that you found that keyword, study the first 5 sites. Know what are their Page rank and the alexa rankings. If it is PR3 or lower, then you have a to beat them but don't cross the border of PR 4 they are tough.

By the way, here is the ratio of a good keyword. 1000 search volume == 50k or less search competition but you can go to less than 100k as long as your competition have a low PR.

Now that you already have the keyword you want, then it's time for you to promote it.

    1. Use the keyword as your blog title.
    2. Use that keyword in the first 50 words in your post.
    3. Use the keyword as a title in your post. Make it as great and valuable content as you can.
    4. Use the keyword as your name if you do comment to other blogs. Do this as a daily routine.
    5. Use the keyword as your signature in forums. Find .gov and .edu forum if you can. They are the priority of google search.
    6. Use the keyword as you do a guest post to other blogs.
    7. Make a post in some do follow web 2.0 blogs like squiddo. I have the list here.

    My words.

Be patience in doing this routine. Do it slowly as you will not loss your temper.
    Slowly

place for at least 4 months - although google pledge to refresh their inventory at least once a month - dont be surprised if your backlinks dont show up for 3-4 months - basically 6 months online is a drop in the ocean - google rankings are all about perceived authority and so a major authority score... is time - and we cant manipulate that.

Start article marketing and begin a drip feed of backlinks to your site. I don't worry about the standard of link because an article on a directory will increase in rank over time so for me its all about article marketing. Look to outsource your article writing so you can still work on other linking methods.

High quality links will be from a page with related content, on a site with related content, with lots of links going into it but few links coming out of it. It would have a h1 or h2 tag around it (ideally) probably not going to happen though. It would also have good quality anchor text (and near the top of the page.

Content doesn't have to be unique, but it prospers better if it is.

Lastly, yes, that is a backlink (even if it's nofollow - it just doesn't count in google).

The quickest way to get pr6 plus backlinks for easy to rate keywords is to "google" Angelas Backlinks and pay the $5 per month, use the supplied links and be number one for the search term in no time.

    Nothing easier :)

    Hello,
You need to make a lot of backlinks. The more links the better BUT it must be QUALITY LINKS which means you don't spam your links.
Search Engines will crawl quality links. This means that you need to get high PR websites to connect with.

I think the same, that's why I was so confused. It's seems pretty easy although it's boring as hell .However, THANKS GUYS for the response I appreciate it. One more thing that it's not very clear to me - If Google are indexing backlinks in 1 or 2 months like I think I've read somewhere then how can you possible know how many links to build? Maybe you will end up building 100 backlinks more then it should, maybe you'd rank for the same keyword with 100 links less... How can you know how many links to build? It doesn't always goes by building higher amount then the 1-3 spot competition. Does someone know time frame about Google updating backlinks? I did like 20-30 backlinks from do-follow article directories, 5-6 days ago. No backlinks showing up when I check with SeoQuake. That's what's discourage me... I don't see any kind of backlinks indexed although my keyword is really easy to rank for, only 390 monthly searches and allintitle copmetition 685. Backlinks of first spot regarding SeoQuake: 2, 2nd spot: 0, 3rd spot: 0. Any suggestions ?

    Thank you

Look for backlinks that will last longer. A link from high PR forums, from blogs, and also from article sharing sites are good source of backlinks.

    Hi bobe91,

To be able to know how many back links, page indexed, etc... you've got, you can use a firefox plugin to know how many links you've got. Not only in google but other search engine also like bing and yahoo.

This plugin is called SEOQUAKE. I've been using that for quite some time now and it is very useful tool for me.

For related information, I would suggest you to visit my blog.
