Building Backlinks: How fast is too fast?

So, now that I am making a website that will generate it's own content, I will have a lot of free time to get backlinks, but how much is too much?

I was to set a limit to myself for each day, how many backlinks should a person make in one day?

    Thank you,

    John

Simple # per day is fine, don't kill yourself over answering this, example: 20, 200, 600, 5

    Just please answer thanks!

interesting question, not sure if anyone has a good answer though. Where are you getting all these controllable backlinks from?

    a) I will be getting backlinks for each of my pages.

    b) I have a good list of directories.

But how many is good each day?

This thread is continued: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=15027 next time don't move things unless you know what the hell it is your moving, thank you.

depends on the size of the site and amount of pages to promote. if ya had 4000 pages ,all diffrent content than i suppose 1 link a day per page would do . any more than that you would get submitting cramps in your fingers from typing.

Get as many as you can because a few months from now, it won't make any difference how quickly you got the backlinks, only that you have the backlinks.

I'm told a good number 20-50 per day should be enough. Don't get them too fast. That's all I've read.

The second part to this question is if you hit the limit and get penalized, how long does that last for?

If it's not long you could just keep going to try to find the limit.

I think, no more than 30-50 links per week,
would be accepted by search engines as a natural...

But who knows what they really want :)

I think going above 5 a day would already be pushing it for a new website.
