If your NOT laser focused on ONE keyword or product per site then forget it. Sure Build a general site for the niche by all means, but then you need to build mini sites for each SUB-NICHE. Rather than having one site that might get ranked you end up with many opportunities to get ranking for longtail keywords. Link your mini sites back to your main site an create a NICHE network Focused on ONE single niche only. Example: main Niche: Camping Gear, general site about camping, locations, tips etc.. Mini sites that target: Tents, packs, sleeping bags, shoes, jackets etc etc. Link main site to mini sites and Mini sites to main site. You end up with your very own link wheel of sites all focused on camping and all the associated stuff to do with it. Now pretend your google and your looking for the best site on camping. You look at a small niche site on camping tents, it links to a big site on all things camping, that links to loads of smaller sites that all have something to do with camping. Google robot thinks, I'm pretty sure this site is about camping and ranks you accordingly as you provide a variety of Information on all things camping.General sites can confuse the poor google bot, so make sure it can tell what your site(s) are about by keeping them focussed on ONE topic. Once your done with camping then move on to the next Niche. One at a time, laser focused is best. general sites seem to get information gatherers NOT buyers and they are WAY harder to rank. And that's my 2 cents. Oda
