Hi All! So my boss has asked me to build up an affiliate group for our company. While I do have some affiliate experience, I've never built a team up and just need general advice on where to find people that are into affiliate marketing etc. Our payout is $50/buying customer (regardless of price of the items purchased) for the initial purchase from each new customer brought in. I think (while very high for affiliate marketing) it's a large enough sum to get affiliates on board, is there something else we should look at and do? this is our affiliate signup page as well, while the verbage and terms are still being analyzed for whats most beneficial for "all", does this seem reasonable? http://www.pennygrab.com/affiliate.php Thanks for your time and your feedback!
Not sure if you have looked at different affiliate networks yet. I would recommend Share A Sale myself because of the low cost entry point and they are awesome to work with. But who you pick as an affiliate network also depends on your company, I think share a sale would be a better pick. Link Share is much larger and has many more affiliates but I have found more powerful/experienced affiliates use SAS from what I have found. As for your page I would use line-spacing and set it to say 1.4em; or 1.8em; and use a bit more space between the paragraphs with <p> tags or <br> whichever you prefer. I would consider condensing some of the stuff you have written. Affiliates don't want to see or read that much.
I forgot to say, With your payout being 50.00 per new customer, I would say your on the right path to getting affiliates. That is a fairly high payout. Have incentives at least once a month or preferably every other week. For example we give a bonus of 5.00 for the first sale our affiliates make. We will also increase that bonus if they make 5 additional sales on the same day as they're first sale. I would high discourage you from running an affiliate program on your own. What I mean is don't use one of those affiliate scripts and try a private affiliate network. I would use one of the big companies, Link share, SAS, commission junction, and so on. Keep in mind they aren't free to join as a merchant. Link share I believe is about 1,000 to start SAS is 650.00 to start. Its actually 550.00 to start the account and the other 100 is put in your account to pay out affiliates. Commission junction I believe is 1,300 Bare in mind Im guessing on the cost for commission junction and link share. I was looking at the pricing for all the affiliate networks and that was about 2 months ago. So, I'm going off of memory.
Hi everyone, thanks for your responses and my apologies for a slow reply. currently our affiliate budget is at $50K/mo. Honestly (without going through the emails) I'm not 100% sure of all the programs we've investigated. I know one has told us "no" because their legal team will not work with chance, gaming or penny auction websites (I'd presume due to the number of fraudulent PA sites that sprung up in 2010/2011), however we've turned down a a couple because of ridiculous starting fee's in the several thousand dollar range that offer no guaranteeing of performance on their part. SAS is one I will be looking into due to your recommendations and I'm looking forward to hearing from you Omrimatomy. If you need, you can email me at Thanks again for your time & wisdom everyone.
now a days pay per sale is not working because people wants all products in FREE .... Best of luck for your future...
It's been my experience, Kannikuku, that CPC type ads do not have any significant factor in generating revenue/long term relationships, so even (to a degree) banner type ads and systems produce fruitless results. (with all due respect) While we are interested in all potential affiliates, please keep in mind that we are aiming for an American audience at this time (Due to VAT taxes customers may experience through customs).
OK, so I'm at my 2 week / 15 day point and so far the results have been not "too" bad.... around 50 sales in total from our affiliates (7 that we've selected so far). Is there another avenue we should be looking at as in... somewhere top affiliates hang out? Don't get me wrong, we're pleased with our initial results but we would like to see more.
I'm interested that you have a $50k per month for your affiliate program but are having such a hard time getting affiliates. With that kind of budget, you would probably do better off with a program like Commission Junction has. I use CJ for my forum site: http://www.pennyauctionnation.com which is a forum for Penny Auction Owners and prospective owners, and while I don't get a lot of PPC revinue, there is a lot of content there that is relevant to Penny Auctions. I don't know if CJ is even taking on Penny Auctions, because a lot of places won't touch them. (which is a shame)I looked at your affiliate page, and it is very nice, and easy to understand, but I wonder if it just isn't getting the traffic you need. The other website I work for is a Penny Auction site: http://www.pennyprizes.com and we are trying to get that affiliate program off the ground as well, but I understand that if the publishers (webmasters) don't know that our affiliate program exists, then they won't join it. A company like CJ won't even bat an eye at a site that isn't pulling in more that a million dollars in sales per year, so for many, that is a pipe dream. So my next step I think is to find the programs I want to join and look at their rating on www.alexa.com to see if they have the traffic that would best suit the activity I would like in my affiliate program. I would be interested to hear your results and progress, and I invite you to join us at http://www.pennyauctionnation.com to help the industry as a whole. I look forward to hearing about your progress.
50$ per buying customer should surely be enough to get you started. I would of thought that kind of money would make things much easier
We've recently begun working with a larger affiliate venue with a large downline of affiliates, but ideally we'd love to run/manage it ourselves (hence our participation here). Cj does not do Penny Auctions due to 2010/2011 scams that were prevalent (fake auction sites). While we do participate in sites like PAN and TBL (et al) we currently don't find it fruitful to advertise our affiliate campaign there as most are simply PA Members and not affiliate "sales persons" so to speak. Thanks for your feedback!
I should add that, a certain percentage of the population applying are not what we would consider "legit" affiliates. I think that can stand on it's own merits as to why I've rejected a few.
