I just launched an acne article/information site. Just wondering what all helpful tips you care to suggest about building a list for this market and marketing the site. I've already begun submitting it to directories and I have digg'd a few of my articles. I've put it in my sig on this as well as other forums. I have entered it into my newsletter that went out this morning to 30,000 people (on homeschooling, so there's alot of parents/kids that would be interested in acne information on that list i hope.)
Mentioning the new site in your newsletter is a great strategy, as you pointed out that list will contain just the type of people you're looking for. I think it's better to make the sig anchor text one of your target keywords/phrases. And I looked on your site but didn't see an email collection form.
There isn't yet.. See this acne site is just one small part of the big plan. I'll be launching 2 of these sites every week and they will be networked together in a directory i'll make in the next few weeks. I plan on having around 100 or so article sites like this.
I have an idea.. Like I said I'll have several different sites like this one well what if I did this. For the acne site I make business cards directing it to that site. Had 250 printed, take 50 to each of the dermatologist here in town and ask them if I could set these on their desk for people to take. I could do the same with other catagory's, such as homeschooling. I'm sure the people at the dermatology office would allow it, and it would be 100% target market.
I wouldn't go that route.... I would just put all my efforts into one site. Building a directory in that niche is a good idea, as you can add text links/banners to all the pages pointing to your site. Just make sure you keep the directory free, a free directory gets more links and traffic. Remember to carry out some keyword research, find those niche keywords that have searches with low competition - Fill the gap! Maybe some CPP advertising to create some brand/site awareness within the early stages. Concenrate on building high quality content, which should revolve around those niche keywords and the links/traffic will come. Another option is buy some links on related sites using the keywords within the anchor text - This will help with Search engine rankings and targeted traffic. As with off-line advertising, the useal stuff like cards, flyers, t-shirts etc does okay but you are better putting the money and effort into on-line stuff. Good luck!
Start making use of the content on your site. Cut them down to 300-400 words, optimize them for keywords in your title and your article and start 'spamming' ezine articles. Should bring you a very nice flow of traffic --- Dylan
