Well, today I am mostly focused with my niche based forums and yahoo answers the most and I am giving my rest of the time to the social media and the content creation, we have our own blog and as Google loves the fresh content so we keep on updating new things in out blog. Rest of the time is devoted to the link profile we keep on checking for the spammy links, keep on deleting them.... etc. :)

Good answer John. May I add that we too have moved onto social media for link building and occasionally the odd rant or two on certain select blogs which G seems to like. The old days of link building are well and truly over and again like John we have removed lots of spammy links which are now deemed useless.

Hi. basically the hard way manually. We search for the incoming links using our software and determine based on age and PR value whether to remove these or not. A lot of my clients links were unnatural so were flagged by G in WT. Basically any links that could lead to a JC Penney site removal.

Well, we keep on filtering the link that we think was spammy, we put our efforts in contacting with the owner of the site through contact forum, emails etc.. in order to take down the link and the links that we weren't able to get removed, we have used our disavow tool to clear the mess.

The problem is John though as we do not know which link Google is counting in our favour and can only guess based on er Google's interpretation this is a difficult task indeed, some links can be totally off subject and still keep the site ranking, I have seen this so many times. The disavow tool can also harm a sites ranking, we leave this well alone.

Well, I think that you could easily identify the links that are acting as spam, you just need to follow some basic steps, have a look over the PA,DA,Page Rank and yes alexa of the page. Keep a close look onto the signatures you've created, low quality post etc.... If you still don't then I would say better to go forward with purchasing the tools.

Yes agreed, they're the easy ones, but try this with a site that's over 10 years old was ranking in the top 10 for a very competitive keyword and then tanked to page 10, its a much harder task indeed and a headache to say the least. :confused:Alexa is very good for determining a sites traffic rank and seeing how popular that site is of course.

I will take a look, there are so many out there. We use Moz and Majestic at the minute.
