I would like to know you guy's experiences with the budget optimizer in adwords. Does it usually get the amount of clicks it says it can get? Does it take into account keywords that are inactive?

from my experience it never reachs the value that it promess to.

I think that his problem is that probably it uses the traffic estimator that is a fake to preview so wrong values.

I saw a lot of people telling very bad things about it but I personally had no bad experience with it, but no good experience too - today I do not use it anymore.

But give a try as it does not hurts at least.

    Hello,

I have been using budget optimizer for about 2 weeks now and I have had 0 clicks.

I set my budget to 100.00 per month, and Most of my search terms are now bidded out over $3.00 per click. I noticed that I am still on the 3rd or 4th page of adwords, for these search terms that are bidded over 3.00.

Overall I would say my campaign is going horribly. I got 1 click previously at .05 for deisgn. That was before I started using budget optimizer.

If you are trying to promote for "web hosting" or "web design" without a HUGE budget via PPC, I think you are making a mistake. You have to have big bucks to afford that.

$3.00 per click is not enough for web hosting ?

how much he need to pay per click to have 100 clicks per day for example?

I created a mock ad, using hosting.com and hosting twice in the ad copy. It said I would have to pay an average of $10.24 per click to be in the 1.2 position. It predicted 3200 clicks to equal 32 grand a day. It wouldn't be that much traffic, but the CPC would be close to that amount IMO.

I don't know about the hundred clicks a day. I would imagine you would have to be in the 3 or 4 position, paying like 8 bucks a click. So between 800-1000 dollars a day I would guess for 100 visitors. That is crazy!

Yes, but are you using the Estimator? It is just a guide, do not trust too much in it.

I agree that "web hosting" keywords are expensive but but do not trust too much in Trafic estimator.

I don't trust in the traffic estimate, because they can't know that. But I do think the CPC is pretty accurate. Atleast in my experience.

    What do you mean?

The CPC is set by us, CPC is the input for the traffic estimate.

Anyway the only interesting output from the traffic estimate would be the click per day - if this esitation is not accurate, any other variable provide by it is not interesting - this is why it is well known as a farse.

The budget optimizer is rubbish...just out of interest after reading this thread I tried it out on one of the campaigns I am currently running. It told me I should be spending $1 more than I am at present for the same position and my budget should be approx $120 per day.
The budget is set at $20 per day and I spend less than $10.

I maybe should be spending more for that position ( not that much though) as I have been building my position up over three weeks. I started low and increased my bid slightly every three days, this gave me an excellent CTR percentage which lifts me over others who are paying higher rates.

I only use search and it's Google only. The other search engines Google uses and content can hurt your percentage rate significantly.

Just because you set a max CPC at $5 doesn't mean you pay that everytime. You pay one cent above the person that bid below you.

I'm just saying that the CPC is accurate because Google knows what other advertisers are bidding. But they don't know how many people will look for "hosting" today.

    Hi all,

Im new to Adwords so i thought i would enable the "Budget Optimizer" to automatically adjust my CPC. The bad thing is that im paying anything upto $1.35 per click which seems a little high to me. The good thing is my ad is maintaining 1st position. So far i have had the campaign running for about a week with 3,541 impressions 163 clicks and 1 conversion. Would you say that using this option is a more cost affective way or should I use the convensional way of adjusting CPC manually? does anyone else use the "budget Optimizer"?

    Thanks

It works for me. I think it depends on how competitive your keywords are.
