How does adjusting the time in the summer affect children setting off to school in the morning?

    1. I love setting them back, hate putting the forwards.

    2. most of or all of the world has it because if it didn't there would be some major Timezone issues

Not if nobody had it. :p And there are areas of the US that don't participate in it. I know the state of Arizona doesn't change their clocks, and I think there is someplace in Indiana that doesn't change either.

That is not a backward effect. That is real time. Standard time. That is the amount of daylight that we would have in the morning whether we changed the clocks in the summer or not.

Why did I think you were Canadian?

The Indiana counties that did not participate made it a real PITA. As I recall, they fixed it last year or the year before.

It's an antiquated system that should be abolished. States like Arizona don't observe DST and they go on about their business just fine. The only problem is when everyone else changes times you have to keep track of that or your 8am phone meeting will happen at 7am without you.
