Have been constantly saying to clients that IE6 is obsolete but still a handful needs the browser support. How to deal with it!

Nothing you can do. If they want it, you must supply it, but even Microsoft wants IE6 to die.

Of course, no one should use IE at all but a lot of people aren't smart enough or aware enough to realize that.

Just get it done with. It's a bitch but it's still needed.

Here's a good technique that I've been using with clients who want IE6 support. The goal here is to EDUCATE your users/clients so that understand the reasons why.

Tell them IE6 is full of security issues that may compromise you and your customers computers. Tell them Microsoft has phased out support because of this and the fact the browser is old and outdated. Recommend to them they upgrade to a more secure browser.

Also tell them that because of the inadequate html and css support with IE6 that it takes extra development time to get things working correctly. Tell them they can have support for that browser but it will cost extra.

If you educate them and make them understand the reasons for NOT supporting it should get your point across.

    Hello,
I Agree with AtSeaDesign and still if they insist most people do, you have to create an extra style sheet
specifically designed for ie6. Still today lots of folks out there use Windows Xp and the default ie6 that's
the reason most of the clients wants compatibility with ie6.

Like atsea said you should educate your clients on the proper web etiquette. Also if you need to test you can use browsershots.org
