browser compatability issues with my theme

i'm working on a site located here: http://cpanel4.frontline.net/~ggarchit/. the site looks great in Firefox and Chrome. But for some reason practically none of it translates over to Safari 4.0.4. In fact it looks worse than if i was looking at it on my blackberry. Also with Internet Explorer 8, the dark bar that stretches across the header doesn't even appear.

i ran the site through the W3 validator and everything checked out so I'm not sure what the issue is.

please advise what steps I need to take to clean up the look in Safari and IE. thanks!

 

There is an empty line above your Doctype, maybe that is causing some problems.

 

Try to validate it, html and css on w3cvalidator, they will tell you exactly what you need to do to be sure that it works on all browsers.
