Brought new site, How does Google deal with dupe content? and article directories?

As the topic says. I recently just brought a site and I would like to move all the articles to my original older one.

What would be the best way to do this? Move the content to my older site and put up a 301 permanent redirect on the newly purchased one?

Also, I would like to put some articles in some article directories, however should I keep these articles off my site and just submit to the directories (so a certain article is NOT on my site but in the article directories) or should I use these articles on my site as WELL as submit them to the directories? (so that it is on my site as well as the article dirs)

Would I be penalised for having duplicate content on my site once the article directories pick up the content?

I would agree with the 301 redirect on your new site and take all the articles over to your old site.

WRT same articles on two different sites, I read that on your site, make sure you have some relevant content before and after the article - that should be fine then!
