Broken External Links

    Is it ok to delete them if the external websites don't exist, i.e., out of business, deleted, or doesn't exist? If I deleted them do I need to update my Google Webmaster Tools by resubmitting sitemap.xml?

    1. Why in all that is holy should any external link be in your sitemap.xml-file? The sitemap is for your INTERNAL links. Delete away.
    2. Of course it is.
    3. Then change the url. Again - why would you do a redirect to an EXTERNAL SITE... *shakes head*
