this may not be the right place to post this.
I bought a site a few months back,http://www.ru7.org ,a directory site.It shows a thumbnail shot of the home page of the sites that are listed, but this stopped working a month ago.Does anyone know how to fix this?or get rid of that option all together, and just show the links as text only? :(

Alexa now dissalows direct linking to their thumbnails. If alexa isn't the referrer, you won't get to see it.

Anyone know how to fake a referrer with php? ;)

I found out how to get the alexa thumbnails work.

I'm just gonna share a 1 mil USD tip to you guys

Use this URL (It's supposed to by for Alexa partners only, but as you will see, it works for any URL):

    http :// pthumbnails.alexa.com/image_server.cgi?id=your-website-address&size=large&url=url-of-the-address-to-be-checked

I used the two spaces there, so that the url won't be shortened.

    I'm expecting lots of beers.

I would give you a beer had I not come across his a couple days ago ;)

At least you shared it though. I was a greedy, selfish bastard who wanted to keep it to myself.

    -Cheers

I just tried it out after reading Christian's post in another thread... unfortunately I couldn't get it to work.

Something to do with no id perhaps? but then I couldn't get any of the alexa pages to show properly. The home page loaded without the css!

You might have some general ISP problems then.

Try without the website id, like :

ALEXA images don't work with id. try using in following format :

I recently requested the ability to do this using Alexa Web Services. Their response: Gosh we should think about that.

Lets hope they add it soon.
