Hello Can all you all tell me which is better to use on most campaigns? Broad Match, Phrase Match or exact Match? Thank you for all your wisdom! Terry
It would be hard to make a generalization about what works better on most campaigns because each one is different. There is a popular belief that you should mostly use exact match, but in my main niche I use all broad match and that yields the best ROI. It's always going to come down to testing each type of match for a few days and seeing what the best results are for you.
Testing. Always testing. What works best for me may not necessarily work for you purely because we'll be in different markets. H
Assuming you have a good understanding of the difference between them, the main difference IMO, is that the CTR should be higher for exact matching which will help drive down the bid cost for the campaign to attain the same ad positioning over time.
Generally speaking, exact match is the way to go....for a number of reasons. Of course that is not the case in all circumstances - testing matching options for your particular market will give you the data you need to grow your AdWords campaigns in a cost effective fashion.
Phrase match has been the most effective as far as getting a decent amount of traffic, that still converts. Broad match is terrible, every time I have used it. Just too much worthless traffic. Exact match normally has too low of traffic to be of any value, so it is most effective on very high volume key words that statistically have a history of actually converting visitors. Testing, as mentioned, is absolutely key to making adwords successful, especially since the whole adwords system is designed to help you spend money.
All 3. If I make an ad for (blue widgets) I would add: Logic being that I collect more exact statistics so I can later narrow it down or separate efforts out if the statistics justify it. Knowledge is half the power.
