    Hello everyone,

This is my first post, any help or insight would be most welcomed and appreciated. I am currently applying negative keywords to my campaigns.

I would like to know, if I use a broad match negative keyword, such as 'review', will that stop any key phrase containing 'review' from showing?
For example, If I add the negative broad match keyword 'review' to my 'dog toy' campaign, will that stop 'dog toy review' from showing?

    Look forward to your insight.

    Thanks in advance.

    Stephen, Melbourne.

Yes, that would stop every ad from showing for phrases that contain word "review".
If you need more help PM me.
    Regards.

I have noticed people using broad match modifiers on negative words. It is my understanding that this method will not work. Anyone have any additional information on that?

Broad match will actually work on negative keywords. However broad match in negative keywords is not the same is broad match in 'regular' keywords. In negative keywords the broad match is 'softer' than in regular campaigns.

@alengeo, if you have a campaign where you want to exclude all traffic that is searching for "free", you can use +free as a negative keyword. This will make it easier than to exclude all exact keywords.
