    Hello,

Suppose I'm using the keyword - COLLEGES IN USA (without quotes) then the ad is showing up when i search for COLLEGES IN USA, but the ad is not being shown foe the term BEST COLLEGES IN USA.

Since I'm not using "colleges in usa" or [colleges in usa] as keywords, can you tell why the ad is not showing when i'm searching for BEST COLLEGES IN USA?

Your bid on "colleges in USA" may not be sufficient for your ad to show up for every broad match to your keyword. Consider this example:
You run the keyword dog collars with an appropriate bid to show up in position 4. Someone searches for diamond studded dog collars. For this search, a you'd be competing with a different set of advertisers, many of whom would be advertising on keywords like "diamond" or "diamond studded". Those keywords have very different competition, so a very different bid is required.

My advice is that if you want to show up for a specific broad match, make it an explicit keyword in your campaign and bid on it appropriately. That is, add best colleges in USA to your campaign.

You're likely running into budget issues. Make sure you have a budget that exceeds the suggested, and, you're set to the accelerated ad delivery option.

Even when that's done there's no guarantee you'll show for everything you think you should. If want to be sure to get coverage for a term/phrase, enter it in an exact match campaign.

It's also determined using your Quality Score:

    http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=6136

To quote: The keyword variations that are allowed to trigger your ads will change over time, as the AdWords system continually monitors your keyword quality and performance factors. Your ads will only continue showing on the highest-performing and most relevant keyword variations.

On the other hand, your advert might well appear for Kindergartens in USA searches, thanks to Expanded Matching...

Thanks curtardmite. Quality score might be an issue with the other keyphrases here, but i'm not getting impressions for any other keywords whether they are relevant or not. This is a new campaign so i think ads might start showing up after some time. Lets see :)
