I have a question - this is related to the oil spill, but not BP in particular. Today I had a few minutes to kill, was browsing on Sears.com, and discovered that they have a forum. Mainly, it looks really boring -- but, I did find one interesting thread. Anyway, so this man is saying he was in Grand Isle when Obama came -- and they brought in five bus loads of workers for the day simply as a photo op. He's claiming they were there for one day to take news pics of them, pretending to be working hard in their white hazardous suits. But, they weren't there the day before, or the day after. I haven't kept up with the BP oil spill, do you think this is possible? If you want to read the thread, it's here. For me, I don't really know if this is true or not. If so, that would be insane. Has any one else heard about this?

I think its completely possible, but highly improbable. By all accounts it smells of an internet rumor. Besides, when the president takes two months to mobilize cleanup efforts on what might be the worst ecological disaster to hit the states, he doesn't need internet rumors, true or false, to make him look bad. He managed to pull that one off all on his own. "Make no mistake, we[the federal government] are in charge here".

LOL. Thanks, Obamanation. Hope I didn't sound too gullible, I just haven't kept up with the oil spill news at all. Then, after seeing that, it just kind of made me pause. I'll stop getting my news from Sears. :)

Anderson Cooper on CNN has had the best coverage of the BP oil crisis and confirms what you wrote.

Cooper reported that the "workers" were bussed in shortly before Obama's speech, and left immediately after. Cooper tried to talk to them but the "workers" had strict orders not to talk to anyone.

Rebecca, thank you so much for the link to the Sears forum thread. It broke my heart to read it.

BTW, as of today, CNN is reporting that the U.S. Congress has held 33 hearings in two months on the BP oil crisis. Of course, nothing has been done. Tony Hayward basically flipped off the Obama administration yesterday and made them look like fools, because he knows that in the end, he won't be punished.

My guess is BP will keep Tony Hayward on as a punching bag until the crisis ends, then they'll sack him.

This is way too big of a story not to be picked up in print media (other than Sears =D). I'm going to hold off judgment until I see at least a few sites pick it up, repeat it, and let the other side respond. If Anderson said so, there should be people all over this by now.

Jesus, that is exactly what I saw too. I normally hate the circus that is otherwise known as a "congressional hearing", but Tony Hayward's expression and tone said one thing to me. "You can't touch me so f*ck off. I'm going home after this circus to bang my supermodel wife in my billion dollar home. What are you going home to? I might throw a few gallons of used motor oil out the window of my car on the way just for the hell of it."

They are grilling the wrong people. We had laws on the books that would have prevented this. The enablers at MMS should be up there in that hot seat facing real criminal charges. The rabid left is now out in force calling for an end to all deep water drilling, after they successfully blocked all shallow water drilling and onshore drilling. Just last night Maddow was talking about how oil is fungible, so it makes no difference if it is produce here or abroad. She then went into how much safer oil tankers are than oil wells. Two nights later, I'm sure she'll have no problem complaining about our relationship with Saudi Arabia, followed by another show complaining about the failing economy as related to the price of fuel.

Believe me when I say, when this health care bill collapses for lack of payment, they will make a full push for socialized health care. Obama is already trying to gin up pressure because he cant keep medicare financially propped up. No wonder a portion of the rabid left supports Gaza. They have the same sense of logic.

Well, O'Reilly mentioned it too, but the problem is, that's all there is to the story. Nothing more to report.

And, IMO, the reporting on this entire situation totally sucks. There's no in-depth reporting on the Coast Guard, which I've never felt deserves to be in the same category as the Army, Navy, Air Force, & Marines. BP & Obama asking the public for suggestions as to how to stop the leak just sounds childish. And the $20Billion sounds suspiciously like a payoff.

This whole thing stinks. Yes, the Federal Government is screwed up and corrupt, but I can't believe it's capable of this level of incompetence. Experts worldwide in cleaning up this spill and stopping the leak have repeatedly been shunned and the press has ignored it.

    EXACTLY!

I mean, the reporting on this sucks. All the networks are saying over and over that Haywood got a grilling, he got his ass kicked, etc. But that's not true! Look at the wise-ass smile he had on his face the entire time! He FLIPPED OFF Congress! If any of the Democrats had any balls at all they would have charged him with Contempt of Congress.

Look, I'm not by any means a conspiracy theorist - not at all. But I heard a theory last week that they don't want the leak fixed or cleaned up. I tossed that off as stupid, but look at what CNN has been reporting: Since this has begun, the Coast Guard has been stopping private cleanup of the spill and so has BP. We've all heard it - requests and demands for equipment have been ignored - and it's been two months. Not even the Federal Government is that incompetent. Obama has to realize that this disaster is causing him to be a one-term President. There is now a moratorium on off-shore drilling in the Gulf and so the dozen-or-so rigs are beginning the six-month journey to the European North Sea. This will benefit everyone except the USA.

Fox News' reporting on this has been completely empty. But CNN and especially Anderson Cooper is starting to see what's going on behind the scenes. They reported on U.S. companies that make products that sop up and/or contain these oil spills. No one has hired them. CNN first reported on the Coast Guard preventing the spill from being cleaned up. People are discouraged from helping. BP is actually having food and other goods flown into the Gulf for their people, ignoring the dying Louisiana restaurants and businesses.

The longer the oil spill goes on, the more attractive the shell game that is "alternative energy" looks. Pelosi, Gore, and others are setting themselves up to be the next generation of Rockefellers.

As we speak, businesses and people in Louisiana are going out of business. Soon, their property won't be worth spit and Real Estate developers will buy them out at cheap cheap prices.

Does anyone doubt that if this had happened off the coast of California it would have been plugged in the first two weeks?

Look, it's not that BP and the government have been slow to respond, or have not responded, it's that they are actively preventing the mess from being cleaned up. All you have to do is watch Anderson Cooper and you'll see how they are interfering with stopping the spill.

And, as it's been repeatedly reported, a low yield strategic thermonuclear bomb would instantly and permanently seal the leak. But then, every Nation with oil rigs off their coast would demand atomic weapons to protect their environment too - including Iran.

Who's to benefit from this mess?
    - Alternate Energy industries
    - The Cap-and-Trade swindlers
    - North Sea oil companies
    - Real Estate developers
    - Pelosi and Gore

And Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen is worse than useless.

I'm not firm in my position here, but I'd like to hear opinions on this.

Another short, concise, easy-to-understand post from Bloggy. Trying to read a post like that monstrosity is like trying to bail out a sinking boat with a colander. And citing sources as useful as a Nerf vibrator.

Update: Anderson Cooper on "Anderson Cooper 360" was just giving examples about how this week the Federal Government has been blocking and denying any and all significant efforts by the State of Louisiana to clean up the spill.

That's interesting. One thing I've read is that they usually only have 10-20 workers at the Grand Isle cleanup site, but, on the day Obama went there bringing all the news coverage, they had 300-400. Though, they don't have any evidence that the Obama administration planned this, but indicate BP. On NewsBusters they had a CNN news video, along with a lot more detailed info. In addition, here's a CNN article where BP downplays the whole thing.

That's the difference between you and me: You look at Anderson and hope he gives you some info, I post a variety and choose which I want to read.

Of course I only read some of it. But you just run with whatever sounds good.

So how about I spoon feed you a few videos. Don't want to stretch your attention span too much.

Then you can go back to CNN and wait for Mr. Cooper to "investigate" the coverup and save the world for you.

    Good luck.

So there it is in black and white. And, of course, you have the official talking points handed to liberal media outlets, most likely directly from the Robert Gibbs. DailyKOS feigns outrage at the audacity of BP sending in additional cleanup workers while Obama is there. They call for a criminal probe. Its political Jujitsu. Take your opponents attack and make it your own with a deflection, off of the White House who probably requested the whole thing, and onto BP. I guess we were supposed to have forgotten these words:

""The American people should know that from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge of the response effort"

    - Barrack Obama

So which is it. Should we be more pissed off he has had so few people out there to clean up the mess on a day to day basis, that he send a small army out for his photo op, or that his photo op crew bailed within an hour of his departure?

We should worry about where we go from here.

BP helped write the CLIMATE BILL

But most importantly about the after effects the gases from the crude oil can have on the people in surrounding states. Which by the way the EPA undermines.

Sounds like the lawmakers are well prepared and the people are not.

How about the fact that 15 nations offered help and all help was refused?

Damn Blogmaster, you get more content relevant deep links to your own site off of conversations in P&R than anyone here. It bugs me because, with my post count, I need to go start my own blog.

I think you should. And if it's really relevant, I'll even quote it which will be additional deep links ;)

Tip: Decide to either go for bipartisan solutions or biased shock value.

Interesting. Makes me look at your links in a whole new light. But how do you get Google keywords when you go for shock-value? Shock-value content doesn't get popular keywords, does it?

But why all the text in your DP posts? Wouldn't you get better click-thrus to theworldsprophecy with 1/4 the text and the same # of links?

Understand that I've been spoiled - my major websites have been up since 1996 and Google absolutely loves them all.

(BTW, I didn't realize until now that theworldsprophecy is your website. Sorry for dissing it.)

Yeh, I didn't figure it out until a few months ago. Its when I quit arguing with him. Why get in the way of a guy trying to make a buck. The fact all the Islamists on this forum love the 9-11 claptrap still bugs the crap out of me though. Its like selling weapons to the Nazis.

I honestly am not doing this for the links, even though it's a great side-effect. If you hit Google trends early, it works. You continue hitting what's new and popular and there comes readership etc.

I personally don't like clicking links all the time, so I paste some stuff here, at least enough to get my point across. Which sometimes it does.

No worries about twp. I know the formatting needs some TLC ;)
