The cornish ppl are a laid back bunch.... even if they do talk funny, lol.

I went to the States to visit a friend for a few weeks last year and I have to say I couldn't have been made more welcome by everyone I met.

What we tend to forget when hearing all these headlines is that for every one person mentioned as a moonbat, racist, war monger or whatever, there are far more normal ppl who simply don't care about such things and would rather just live a pleasant life.

No question. And that's the reason to never actually GET MAD at anything you read. It's one person's opinion.

Hell, imagine one person speaking for any country. With so many other people living there, it would be insane.

I'm sure you know - those "geezers" from the WWII era saw more hell than you and I will ever see. They are to be honored. Unqualifiedly.

I've never said that. You really do live an altered state reality.

No question. These guys worked for China Clay their whole lives and only left Cornwall to go to WWII (and then visit America in their 80s).

They told me they went to see "Saving Private Ryan" and couldn't watch it because it brought up bad memories from landing on Omaha beach the same day in the 40s.

They hated the Queen and all royalty, too. :)

They're not alone in that, either. I and many others see them as an embarrassement and a tax hog.

But don't they pay taxes now? Also, I was under the impression that the royalty and their historic castles was one of the big tourist draws.

That whole Princess Di thing was a crock of monkey dong though... What a waste of air time.

No doubt. You aren't kidding about the Cornish accent/speech though.

I could make out maybe 1/4 of what was being said without asking them to repeat. And man, did the use a ton of slang, too.

You're partly right, Mia. They pay SOME taxes but they are ones they've volunteered to pay, not forced to and the enormous amounts of taxes they don't pay makes it pretty irrelevant.

As for tourists being drawn to the UK because of the Royals, this is the excuse that has been used to justify their existence for years. It's a convenient argument for the Royalists as it's something that cannot be proved with hard facts.

The castles, historic building, etc will draw the tourists regardless of whether the ol Corgi cuddler was there or not.

The Diana fiasco was summin I got sick of hearing about. I'm not big on conspiracies anyway but if there WAS summin twisted going on, it will never be disclosed because the Royal family have God status and therefor untouchable.

Lol Lexiseek. yep, the Cornish accent can be hard to understand but atleast it's a fairly pleasant one. We have some real stinkers for accents over here but I won't mention them cuz I dunno where my fellow Brits frequenting this forum are from, lol.

    Absolutely correct.

When you study the facts it looks like no accident, especially the route they took back to the hotel and the fact that all CCTV cameras were not working in the whole of the tunnel for some mysterious reason.
