We've been up and running for 2 months and haven't seen any positive impact to date. In fact, our rankings have gone down significantly for the keywords that BriteCorp is linking to, though I can't say that this is cause and effect.

I'm going to give it a little more time in the hope that positive results kick in....

Google is being a complete pain and not yet counting the impact of the links - all of which have been indexed. It's simply a question of "when" and "to what degree". But it's frustrating, and I genuinely appreciate that.

However, in the meantime, everybody check their MSN beta rankings:
    http://beta.search.msn.com/

I swear it's sweet: almost every site I've checked is in the top 10 for keywords I've built for. :D

Cross your fingers, folks - MSN Search goes live worldwide in *about* 2 weeks time. :)

    EDIT - Added *about*. :)

yup, sure would be nice if new MSN would release.....though Google still drives 80%+ of my qualified traffic, so that's they key for us.

Regardless as to when it goes live, It's not going to have a real impact until Longhorn is released.

The words I'm linking with the britecorp progam have gone up - slightly, but I am doing a very very competitive word. I'm to 24 now from 31 a few months ago. I think this is attributed to higher weight in the COOP network mainly though and some good advertising I've purchased.

Lots of people use MSN search. My site is nowhere in the current search, but does very well in the beta. Whenever it comes out, I'll look forward to a very nice spike from MSN traffic.

    Nope. :)

The co-op network somehow beats the sandbox, but there's a measured punch in this network.

My understanding of the MSN Search was that it was scheduled for public launch for December 2004. As the big Search Engines Strategies conference is at the beginning of December, it almost seems to make sense that MSN might aim to launch then, and ride the SES wave of publicity.

Nobody will get blacklisted with sudden increase in backlinks. YOu can only get blacklisted because of something done in pages on your domain only. Else, i would have loved to kickout many :(

How would you know if you had? And is the program even still active?

Seems like a very strange question, why do you ask?

The original program discussed was discountinued early 2005 for a new improved one.

I don't know of any client I work with ever having being banned from Google - and certainly *if* someone had a site banned more than a year after leaving my services, it would be hard to draw a connection between the two.

However, if anyone is concerned with current Google results, they may want to check out these discussions:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=62256
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum30/33257-9-15.htm

Google seems to be having problems not only with an incomplete index, but also one filled with out-of-date and even nonsense URLs.

There's a post at Threadwatch that deals with some of these issues in more detail:
