I keep hearing blogs who bring in traffic using their RSS feeds. How does this work? What are other ways to bring traffic to a blog?
Yes, traffic from the search engines is another great way to get traffic. Try to attract inbound links by writing good content on your blog
Check technorati.com and pingoat.com. Blog is a great way to get traffic, and when you ping everytime you post, you get traffic from search engines and real people. So many different ways! Starting with writing good targeted content for both SEs and readers is a must but after so examples of what you can use are: - Blog Directories - RSS Directories - Blog Search Engines (you can automatically ping these 1st 3) - social bookmarking sites (Delicious, Digg etc) - social networking elements (MyBlogLog) And of course, since a blog is effectively a website with special characteristics: - main Directories - email signature - forum signature - article sites etc etc. Just approach it in the same way as a normal site and then add in the additional elements that blog offer automatically. Hope that gives you some extra avenues to explore. Mark
RSS fed sites can be really good with the right setup and right feeds. Sometimes they are disastrous when done wrong though. But when done right, with a little keyword research, and a little investment in some software, you're good to go. Get at me on icq if you have any specific questions, i'm feeling helpful today.
