Gentlemen, ladies .. I made a wordpress site for a friend (who is a dentist) hoping he could get some clients when business is rough. Site did pretty well initially... got about 10 visitors a day. Lately... I would say last 4-5 weeks the traffic has really declined. I heard Google made some updates to their algorithm. I need the expertise from the users in this forum to help me SEO this website and get some more traffic to it. I don't mind spending some $$$ if I have to. I am open to buying services and I don't believe everything is free. So please, anyone care to guide me in the right direction? Your help is very appreciated. Feel free to be technical with me. I am a web developer with almost 8 years experience. Thank you all
First.. what are your keyword(s). Do you have them in your domain name, meta tags, H1 tags on your index page? Do you have any social sites setup for your page yet? facebook, twitter?
thanks for replying.. keywords are like: dentist implants dental cleaning root canal etc.. I have a page setup for each procedure (which in turn is a keyword) ... I use proper h1 tags and meta tags. I have created a facebook and twitter, but I rarely login there or make any changes. What else can I do?
An effective back linking campaign that includes high PR links, contextual and relevant back links from sites with a low OBL and keep a good link diversity would certainly sky rocket your rankings. After Googles latest updates, the focus has changed now to quality, quality ,quality... if your content is good, your one page SEO is done correctly and your back linking campaign is solid then you would not have to worry too much about losing rankings in future updates.
Are you trying to rank for local keywords? Because this is a dentists office so people are going to be searching for terms such as "Dentist in Arkansas" or "Best Dentist in Sacramento" Local keywords are much easier to rank for and are also much more targeted which is what your friend will need. You need a diverse linking portfolio. Web 2.0's forum profiles, blog comments, presss releases. Try to ensure that all your links ARENT spammy, google will bite you later down the road for this.
