Breakups Inc. - UNIQUE - The next big myspace & co complimentary site to own! PR3

Discussion in 'Sites' started by ados67, Oct 4, 2006.

http://www.BreakupsInc.com - I had the chance to purchase this, and was
going to promote it through bulletins, but I really don't have the time and
    the money for other investments.

The site has received a bit of media attention in the past - but it was never really
monetized correctly (it did make orders I believe, but I never talked to the
former owner about that, and it was a long time ago anyway), and it died off
I suppose. This could be a VERY easy site to promote and receive media
attention, and it's BOUND to get word of mouth traffic.

Prices could be decreased slightly (I may recommend that), although it all
depends on how seriously you're going to take this site.

It really can make you quite a few sales with just a few bulletins, and from
there it would spread like wildfire.

This could be a major site to be used to advertise your other myspace
resource sites, make money off of selling breakup help e-books, or actually
selling what the site always did - we'll do the breaking up for you :p.

As far as traffic, barely none at this point, as it's been dead for a long time.
Still some visits from Google according to awstats, and a few from other
    search engines.

Links from an Internet Search Engine - Full list
    - Google (Images) 39 59
    - Yahoo 3 3
    - Google 2 2
    - MSN 2 2

    Keywords:

    breakups 6 85.7 %
    help with breakups 1 14.2 %

The rest of the visits are still from myspace accounts etc., but as I said -
not many (around 60+ uniques for September).

The domain is VERY catchy, and as I've said has received a bit of media
attention in the past (example - A small mention in TechNY Magazine:
    http://www.techny.com/articles.cfm?getarticle=841&go=0.853456254251 )

As you can see, it can stir up some funny discussions. You don't necessarily
have to run it the same way it was managed before, but that's just an
    overview of the possibilities really.

T-shirt sales, promoting other myspace related sites etc. is just the start
    - this could be a very funny brand, or a very controversial one (it has
stirred controversy in the past on forums as far as I know from the former
owner) - all depends which way you take it, and what do you make out
    of it really :)

The design is unique, and the site includes around 10 pages, including
separate order pages for the separate "services" if you will :)

Make me an offer, first BIN offer I like, I'll take. I hope to end this within
24 hours at the most, please have the money ready in your paypal, I
    won't accept other methods.

    Starting bid: $50
    BIN: $450

    P.S.

You don't need to keep any links, ads, copyrights, or the "designed by"
at the bottom - you're free to do anything you want with the site. Hosting
included for a while if needed, PM me with what you need more or less.

Maybe I just posted this at the wrong time, but I figured this would at least get some interesting replies... :) The site is a very unique way of driving traffic to other sites (with an emphasis on myspace resource sites, and other teen and such sites) - or monetizing the site itself. Design is unique, idea is weird ( maybe too weird :D ), and it can definitely get some attention.

    Any feedback? :)

There seem to be some errors on the services pages:

Warning: main(../includes/footer.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/breakups/public_html/_order/breakup_email.php on line 394

Warning: main(../includes/footer.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/breakups/public_html/_order/breakup_email.php on line 394

Warning: main(../includes/footer.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/breakups/public_html/_order/breakup_email.php on line 394

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening '../includes/footer.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/breakups/public_html/_order/breakup_email.php on line 394

However, I like the design and the original idea...

So I'll start the bidding at $50.

I made a small change to the services pages as they pointed to an old order address, that must be it - will fix it when back today.

I have had a BIN offer I may choose to take, but other than that let's set the end time to Friday, 1:00 PM EST, with a 15 minute bid sniping protection ;)

    Reasonable BINS will be considered.

Thanks for the bids so far!

I found an error in the breakup_email php file and fixed it (it called a folder by the name of "includes" instead of "_includes") - and I think this was the main issue here. Can anyone check and make sure it's fixed (I didn't see the error before fixing it actually)? If no, can you post the URL here where you are getting these errors?

Thanks, and also thank you Paula for your bid :) Current BIN offer I received via PM was $250, and I countered it with a $350 offer - if anyone is willing to offer $350 right away, site will be sold (i.e. BIN is officially reduced from $450 to $350) :). I'm considering just taking $250, but I honestly think it'll be worth a lot more to the new owner with just a bit of promotion through bulletins, which are very cheap anyhow...

Just add a "link to us" code at the top of the site pages, so myspace users can copy and paste it to link to the Breakups Inc. site with a nice little banner or button, and this will fly real quick.

The site has apparently been sold to another owner on February for $200, but the sale never went through (as I made the transaction with the same owner selling it in the ebay auction link you provided just the other month).

Is there any reason you're listing the link though? In other words, is there anything wrong I'm perhaps missing? Honestly trying to figure out :)

Nothing wrong, I was interested in the site and was just sleuthing around for the history of the site, and posted my findings.

No revenue stats or other stats except the posted stats, so nothing much really :)

I won't be here today in the auction's ending time, so let's make it based on this EST clock here:

    http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5/java

Remember the 15 minute anti sniping rule I made (i.e. 15 minutes must pass from the last bid until the winner is announced).

I have a $250 BIN offer on the table and will take it if the person responds (he doesn't for now), so do keep that in mind - if anyone wants to post a $250 BIN right away, I'll take it right away, instead of taking the other person's BIN offer (I'm also not obligated to him because it was an offer, not the actual BIN I set) because I've not seen a response for 2.5 days or so now from that person.
