Breaking News! Italy could lose its title!!!

Fifa is checking about the issue and if rassism, discrimination ... is proven, Italy could well lose its title according to new Fifa rules, which were introduced in March this year.

    Article 4, paragraph 1 and 2.

    That's the way to go.

Though I'd like to see the game played again, - but that's not possible, I think.

If you find anything in English, be sure to post it. I would be surprised if the rule applied to a racist comment by one member of one team.

I may be mistaken but my guess is this rule applies to unruly English fans (just an example of course) creating an atmosphere where no one should be expected to play in.

PS. Do you work for Sky? They love to call everything "Breaking News" lol

I don't think Materazzi getting a slap on the wrist is breaking news though

That would be my guess... Ban the guy for 18 months and that's the end of it. Zidane still wasn't right to react so no way can they pass on the title to France.

Anyway, what happened to Juventus etc.? Where they relegated?

Yes, the rules apply in principal. If it is a game when the teams play for points, automatically 3 points will be deducted. In games without points disqualificaten could apply, for the final ruling investigations will be used to clear the case.

But this wasn't what it was meant to address, was it?

I hardly think France will be awarded the win based on a technicality

I don't know the rest of fifa rules, but it could be perhaps that the game will be repeated without the two.

    wishful thinking

They should replay... But without Italy and France... England vs Portugal instead.

A disciplinary case is for certain sure, the fifa spokesman announced, because Materazzi has addmited that he insulted him.
If Fifa get some further info, disqualification looms for the Italian team, that's what I understand so far.

Ok, when the news media gets ahold of this breaking news maybe we'll get a little more insight (I can't read German unfortunately).

I really don't think this will effect the teams or the winner. A slap on the wrist, a fine, dust under the rug.

Of course there will always be an instant replay of that headbutt to remember it by.

I'll add to the wishful thinking though and call for a rematch!
