In the WW2 this old warrior fought for his country and was promoted to the rank of captain. A few weeks ago he was determined to again serve his country by walking around with his walker to raise donations for the NHS. (National Health Service) He was hoping to raise 1,000 British pounds. Instead he raised 30,000,000 from donations all around the world. Today he turns 100 years old and the British government is promoting him to full Colonel. Well done Captain Tom! *or should I say Colonel Tom?
The video is about halfway down this page: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/30/capt-tom-moore-thanks-people-for-support-on-his-100th-birthday
Tomorrow Tom Moore is to become Sir Tom Moore and will be knighted by the queen with the Prime Minister in attendance. Couldn't happen to a better man as far as I'm concerned.
Unfortunately the BBC is reporting that Captain Tom died today of pneumonia, he had also recently tested positive for Covid-19. He was 100 years young. R.I.P. brave Captain Tom.
