Hi all, I have a question I couldn't find an answer to, I would appreciate if you could have a look and advise on the below. I have a brand name on mind that has a .com domain available. Let's call the brand Goodbrand. Problem is, on Twitter and Tumblr the name is in use. By individuals, not businesses. On Facebook it is used as the custom URL for a personal profile, not a page, hence www.facebook.com/ goodbrand is taken. My question is, if I cannot negotiate with the owners of these accounts, is it a good idea to add Official or Brand or something along these lines to the brand name on all the platforms? So it would be Goodbrand Official or Goodbrand Brand there. From a branding perspective, can it be harmful? Will customers understand all these accounts belong to the same brand? What about SEO? Will it have an adverse effect on ranking? Will Google recognize the connection between goodbrand.com and Goodbrand Official on social media? Do you have any recommendations for this problem? Any best practices or proven solutions? Thanks very much for having a look and I greatly appreciate all feedback. Best, cudarz
I'd go with goodbranddotcom (if it meets the twitter's name character limitation, of course). I personally claimed both names on twitter: qwikad and qwikaddotcom. Both are equally important to me.
