I recently launched a paid sports directory, permanent links starting from just $5. Hot Sports Links

First thing I will tell you is that it is a PR 0 site. WAIT! Don’t press the back button yet. I have heavily promoted my directory, spending about $300 promoting including paid directories (listed below), sponsored ads, press releases, and more. I am expecting a PR 5 or 6 at the next update. I also promote this site at many sports forums and directories, so I get a lot of quality, targeted traffic. I will continue to promote it in the future.

I also am paying for a PR 7 link $40 month, I can not disclose that site at the request of the owner, but I can tell you I have a different pr 7 link from wikipedia.

Next thing I will tell you is 1st level and deep linking. I always allow both of these, while most directories don’t.

Next thing I will tell you is no sitewide/sponsored links. Everyone would agree it is a benefit for categories to have less links, as it would give your link less weight. Many paid directories have site wide links, sponsored links, homepage links, all of which take away from the value from your link.

Last think I will tell you niche. Google will give your link more “weight” because the content to the site is related, everyone will agree with that. That’s why in general niche directories have higher prices, because they get more traffic and weight than general directories.

Looks like a good directory and I wish you the best with it! One thing I'd suggest is that you add some listings yourself - a lot of people are hesitant to add listings to a directory that's virutally empty. You could add "authoritative" links like the sport's governing body, or college sports teams, olympic committe in charge of the sport, etc.
