I have a brand new site promoting 4 products.
Apart from PPC what is the best way to spend this money.
    I know $150 isn't much but I can't afford to waste it.

I would recommend ppc, look carefully at the behaviour of visitors, assuming your $150 can pay for itself, then you can spend another $150 again, it's that simple ;-)

Also, it would help eventually to get some backlinks (either rent or buy permanent text links), then you break the cycle and get free visitors.

Man I hate it when people recommened PPC campaigns when folk say they have x ammount to spend on promoting a site.

The reality is PPC campaigns are extremely difficult to pull off without a heck of a lot of knowledge, experience and know-how. You can't advise people spend their budgets on this. It's a hard game that needs to be learnt, and even then the game is ever-changing and some products simply don't convert.

He has 4 products and $150 just isn't enough to try out various targetted keywords with a PPC campaign.

I would opt for something more solid and that will be to your benefit forever and which you can build on and grow.

$150 would buy you 30 articles. You could use them in a number of ways:

    - Submit a few, maybe one or two for each product to Ezinearticles
    - Tailor the majority towards lesser-searched for keywords, dividing them up between your 4 products

If you're up on your SEO then you can link-build for free using directories to each product/articles that you put on your site.

Unfortunately it takes money to make money and the less of it you have the harder it is.

    Good luck!

    Pete

Ya I agree with that. Article and directory submissions are beneficial in the long term as it helps get SE traffic in future.

Thanks for the input guys.PPC is definately out.I haven't even submitted this site to the SE's yet.My first job is always submit to the SE's then start submitting to directories.I think a press release might be the way to go on this one as a "The first time all 4 products available on one site" sort of thing.
I really want to get my traffic and sales from the search engines.I know this will take a few months but that is my main aim.
I can get PR5/6 links from my other sites.

Any more ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    MK

Bloody hell. He specifically asks NOT about ppc. The first reply -- "try ppc"!

Go down the article route if i were you. Consider some paid directories.

pay a dmoz editor to get your site into dmoz.

I don't know exactly what your site is about but I purchased a classfied ad on fark.com a long time ago for $40 and that generated 850 hits for me.

Other than that, I say buy links on high PR pages. You can usually get them pretty cheap.

Run your products on eBay with a link back to your site in your description.

This will get people to your site that can purchase the products on your site without having to bid on eBay. Also this offers TONS of exposure.

This is the best idea! do it :)

Yeah, ebay is basically free (to list an auction is cheap) and gives you tons of exposure!
Putting your link to your site will also help to get it into search engines as they love ebay and the listings there.
And if a good listing with good keywords, subject line and description, another good thing about ebay that few people know about is that you will get exposure in hundreds, if not thousands, of other sites free!
This is through ebay's affiliate program and there are thousands and thousands of affiliates who have sites that promote ebay and ebay listings.
Your auction can show up on these sites and you will get free promotion, etc.

Now to go off to ebay and do this for my ebook site, again.
Sell some product for 99 cents (just to irritate those who sell at full retail).
    LOL

Yes its ok to do. Put a aution up for 99 cents with the title that is saying what you are trying to sell/promote.

Then in your description promote what ever you are trying to sell then put a link to your site.

If they like it they click the link and then click the link on your site for the product you are selling then you get paid.

Actually, it depends on the license you have to resell/promote.

Some marketers specifically state in their resell rights NO AUCTION SITES.

Some marketers specifically state that when they give you an affiliate link that
it not be posted in FFA's, Ebay, Traffic Sites, etc.

So if the products don't state that you can't use Ebay, then that is great advice (need to do it for a few of my resell rights stuff), but if they state not to use Ebay and you do then you may not get your commission and be barred from promoting/reselling.

Very True. Even though there's a mass of resell rights for products, marketers don't want their stuff on eBay. It devalues the product. But, their stuff is sold anyway.

Check you license and go with eBay. Save some $$$ for PPC too:)
