Hi I've been thinking about setting up a website offering reviews of products and then using affiliate links to amazon. But I'm wondering about the legal rights to use a brand name in my URL. From what I understand it is not allowed to have a brand name in the domain name, for example brandnameexample.com. But what about somethingreviews.com/brandnameexample ? Would that be ok, or is it still illegal ? It would be pretty difficult to come up with another name that is relevant. For example if the site is about reviewing cars, and you're doing a review on ferraris, then what else could you use to describe it, if not their brand name ? Or would it be allowed to use the model name instead ? Thanks
Hmm, something cool and unique. You just have to be a lot observant to your surroundings and suddenly you got the idea.
1. This is not legal advice. 2. It might be fine as long as you also use a disclaimer, to notify the user that you are not affiliated with the actual company. 3. see number one.
^ That would have been my advice. You are always best to check first, as they will have documents referring to this as you are probably not the first person to launch such a site.
Yes, @rapidspeeds... try checking with the brand, if they allow to to use their brand and pass reviews to amazon for a particular product being an affiliate..
