Has anyone heard about how Google will treat the new .brand domains that will be released next year?

It will be interesting to see if Google places more weighting for generic and dot brand domain extensions.

I have looked at some providers like Melbourne IT and it could cost from 300,000 dollars to setup your own TLD like .shopping, .canon, .shoes, etc..

Is this going to change .com or is it going to be like .info and .biz.

I read about it before. Only big companies probably get such a domain. For now it is curiosity.

I still prefer to .com such domain. the brand domains is probably only suitable for the specific business.

.com is probably here to stay for now.

But it will be confusing next year once these new gTLDs are out. Imagine emailing someone at johndoe@shoes. shopping.

    vs johndoe@shoes. shopping .com

That will confuse a lot of people and also cause problems especially if someone else owns the .com domain name.
