br tag causing issues

Is anyone able to ascertain what I can do to the CSS to fix up this terrible white space caused by the <br/> tag in my site: http://www.helloelbow.com/news/test-br-again/. It's driving me insane!

 

I had reviewed your sit. The left major column is blank . I can't see where the problem is.

 

I guess you've removed the test page. I recall glancing at a <br> question a day or so ago. If this is the same, the <br> has the clear property set, which drops everything after that point to below the float on the left.
