Boycott Google Search

    Hi Friends,

I'm sure just like myself, many of us are still tearing our hair out over the recent google updates. Just like everyone else, our sites were hit as well. The only problem I find with this is that some of us have done everything legit and followed google's guidelines from day one, it now seems to be that we are getting punished for doing so.

So instead of cracking our heads and crying for help every time the evil giant decides to cough, I believe we have come up with the best strategy to beat Google at it's own game. The company may not be aware but they are destroying people's livelihoods from these updates. And it seems to me that Google has grown to become an Arrogant monopoly in recent years. Perhaps they shift their focus away from their original product, which is search.

Here are the facts guys. Google needs us to survive on the web. If we are not creating websites, they will have no results to show users, and it'll be bye bye to their ad revenue. I say it's time to fight back.

The only reason Google is able to get away with this arrogance nonsense and put us to our knees is because currently they control over 60% of the market when it comes to search. WE CAN CHANGE THAT SEQUENCE.

I propose WE ALL BOYCOTT GOOGLE SEARCH and spread the word around. Instead start using other search engines YOURSELF and encourage people to use other search engines as well like Bing and Yahoo. Just imagine, if it were a plain field and many search engines had a good stake in the market share, THIS IS GREAT FOR ALL WEBMASTERS. If google has a lower market share in search, non of us will have to panic any longer when they choose to put out an update.

There should be FREEDOM on the web after all. But we've seem to give up our rights to the Dictator called GOOGLE. We can take that power back. It is we the users and webmasters who controls the web, NOT google.

Let's join together and move this campaign forward. Build on this thread and post on other forums.. All useful information should be posted here, more reasons why we shouldn't submit to google's demands, shady stories about the company, lists of other search engines etc. Lets push this campaign guys and we will All be Home free.

We have also created a facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/boycottgooglesearch please like/support and spread the word. Thank you!

you're kidding right? I think the latest updates are only for the good of search engine. I don't understand how come your site raning went down if you used legit methods. You ought to have done something wrong. Good Luck with your campaign though.

Problem is what is the competition? Bing? Yahoo doesn't exist anymore, they are a joke. So Bing.. But Bing is Microsoft, they have a past of being hated for monopolistic reasons, now yes they have calmed down and came back to being all nice and submissive, because their IE is not 80% market share anymore, but what if things turn around and Bing becomes 60 and more of the search market? Then they'll turn ugly again.. Same story always.. Nice at first then ugly, then nice again, etc.. :)

Check out Jon Leger's Blog and you will see the lasted Google Snafu. Google is an arrogant bully that thinks it "KNOWS" what is best. Of course, they are wrong. What they would serve up as "Organic Legit" sites are rarely what I am looking for. Perhaps Bing is no better, but, Google is a miserable failure based on the companies expressed goals. Just saying (from experience)...

Of course every update they put out is for the good of search engine. No one is disputing that. But doesn't change the fact that some good sites get caught in the crossfire. Also doesn't change the fact that Google controls the web and Most of us are vulnerable to whatever changes they make, good or Bad. The whole point of this campaign is to improve competition online. This is what's best for all end users.

GOOGLE is a Monopoly whether we accept it or not, and that needs to change.

When an valid alternative will come , a valid alternative be sure that everybody will move, but until then looking at google as a visitor and not as webmaster it is the best and the most complete.

About taking the problem from the webmaster point of view.. When you say you follow all the guideline I will ask you if youa re sure about this?
Did ever post a link to your website? If yes.. then here we go against the rule
Did ever pay for a link?... If yes.. here we go
Didi you ever post a reciprocal link?

I made all the things agains the guideline and I have been affected by G but not on the main kw, and I have recovered from the de-ranking, I have adapted my strategy's and we are back in business.

So do not blame G for your failure and G is not to blame for those who read 2-3 article, they got lucky with a few strategy's that they never understand why they apply those strategy's and the effects.

You obviously didn't read my post completely. G, you may be doing well now with your sites, but my point is you are still VULNERABLE to Google. Success or Failure, if you're like many of us who have a family and responsibilities, then your livelihood is in the complete hands of one search giant. Yes, maybe I'm coming more as a webmaster, but also as a user and for all search users I believe this is best for everyone. NO 1 company should but in control.

My Goal for this thread is to promote freedom and competition on the web. You may have a smile on your face now, but come tomorrow when Google decides to change something else and you're affected, then you're back in the rat hole again.. See where I'm going with this?

No, I don't, you speak about 2 separate things here... Freedom of choice and making money..... and user point of view and webmaster point of view...

From a user point of view things are clear... no one make a user to open G or yahoo or bing.. you have the power of choice... And still the most chose to open G and trust their result... why? Because they do a great job... Is the same reason why users move from alta-vista to G... They work great from this point of view.... So why to blame them.. no one stop you to use yahoo.

From the webmaster point of view... Until your website need to appear in searches to make money you use G to make money and they didn't force you to make that.. If you want not to be at G hand then is simple... make an authority website... make an website that people will type your url in the browser.... When I want to access facebook or twitter I type the url in the browser I don't search for it in G. If you do not want to be at G hand then go and optimize your website for yahoo.. now one stop you to do that, but you don't, why? Because the visitors are on G, why? Because they do things better.... So... why to blame someone because he do things better, only because he make new rule in his house?

Do not misunderstand me, my webmaster life is not all rose but I see it like a contest between me and G, a contest in witch the rules are made by the G because I play on his playground...

@ Quiz. I obviously did not mean FREEDOM in that context. I meant freedom in the sense that one is not limited or vulnerable to only 1 option.

Bing and Yahoo are crap. Stop kidding yourself. No one likes to see a monopoply, but no one in their right mind would use Bing over Google. It's not Google's fault the other 2 can't get their act together. If you want, you could list a few of your websites here so we can all see how much you have really been following their guidelines.

I see many of the Google supporters are not located in the US, perhaps this doesn't affect you as much. Many of Google's recent updates mostly affect US sites. But soon you will feel some frustration too as long as Google keeps getting bigger.

You are right "some frustration" this is about frustration...

Let me put it this way.. what would you think if I come in US, start to scam people and then blame the US because I got to jail...

Your country your rule, I have no reason to be frustrated about this... G search engine, G rules....

And as said.. I got in the sandbox and saw my websites losing ranking many times... But this is not G fault.... I mine... I know the rule when I entered in the game, and I'm also aware that the rule may change... so... why to blame G?

I'm not a G fan I'm realist and I try to found a solution where that can be applied and this solution is to change and adapt my strategy's so I can survive... the other option is to change G rule and this is impossible so I focus my effort where they can bring some results.....

...My web host is located in the US. I am guessing most people here have their web hosting in the US.

I don't where you pulled that conclusion out of...

I can understand why you are frustrated and angry, but you gotta stop blaming Google. In the end there's no point in pointing the finger. Just see what you can do differently to get your websites ranking again. :)

I still choose Google. I've been using it for more than ten years and I trust that the recent changes will actually do everyone good. Better search results means less time trying to enter other keywords. I don't think Google should be blamed too, with all the shortcuts, blackhat techniques, and other stuffs that aren't good, if I'm Google I'd really do changes with the algos.

In my opinion what Google is doing will benefit the real users. It may not be the same for webmasters although. If the quality of search improves after these algorithm, I welcome it.

Anyway I never quite like the EMD websites. Google is quite late to do it. But it is better late than never :p

I don't think it is possible to boycott google. You'll problaby eventually use a google product without even knowing it.
