If a user enters my site and clicks on an external link, does this count as a bounce? Or is a bounce when the user clicks back in the browser? thanks.
A bounce is when some one clicks back within the first 2 seconds or does not click onto another page within your website. If some one clicks into your website then clicks on to an external this could cause you to see it as a bounce as you’re tracking code will not appear on the external URL so can not be tracked. This is a common thing with affiliate websites so Google brought in a simple way to track exit clicks This help page will explain it in more detail: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55527
if visitor come on landing page(page including home or inner page where the visitor first come) and back from this page either bye browser back button or close the web page is know as bounce
If the visitor doesn't stay on your site for more that 2 seconds, it counts as a bounce rate calculation.
hi people ... where did you get that bounce rate calculating goes from 2 seconds ? I read some where in internet interview with someone from google, i don`t remember his name, and there was saying about 30 seconds. 3 mins left .... i tried to find in google some thing about bounce rate and 30 seconds ... and found this one but hi not from google ... this just first article in google serps about bounce rate ... So i just want to say ... that 2 seconds, this is very small time ...
The 2 seconds is absolute nonsense! There is no time limit! A bounce is simply a visitor leaving the site after landing on a page and not clicking on another page on your site. Here is Google's explanation: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=81986 Can those above who made up the 2 seconds thing please come back and explain why you did it for?
