Bounce rate suggestions for me

    Hi,

I would like some input on how to lower the bounce rate of search engine visitors that land at one of my BLOG pages.

An example would be this page:

    http://www.nobluff.com/gambling/eleven-handicapping-strategies/452/

A visitor would land on my page, very targeted as the search terms that I am seeing, would indicate. Then over 90% of the time they bounce.

    Now some background.

    1. I added the 6 banners (just above the article) in order to encourage the visitor to check some other pages. I think its a good idea, but maybe the banners are not catchy enough, what do you think?

    2. I have just added a floating banner at the bottom of my page (you have 1 message banner thingy), in your opinion, help or hinder bounce rate?

Any extra information you could provide would help.

    Thanks!

Use Google Webmaster tools (Overlay) or a script like ClickHeat and check the clicks. If you have something in top fold with a very low percentage, place it lower on the page and bump up something that might do better. See what is attracting the most attention and bring that upwards closer to the top of the page (above the fold).

Well most of your stuff is above the fold (there when the user enters the website), this could be good for your CTR but bad for your bounce rate. Try putting more content visible to the user's eyes and see what happens. There's no clear answer for everything, it's just trial and error sort of stuff.
