This is my second post to this group, let's see if you all are true analytics Jedi. :)

    1) Let's say you run a site which is monetized by advertising. When reviewing your bounce rate how do you reconcile the increase in bounce rates due to them clicking on ads? For example: Generally high bounce rates are bad and more clicks / ad revenue is good... aren't the two going to be directly but inversely proportional so that as you make more money (people leaving when clicking on Adsense ads) your bounce rate go up... and vice versa?

    2) Related to the above: Lets say you have a membership site and also generate advertising revenue through Adsense. How do you balance keeping people onsite to become members vs. generating revenue by having them leave the site when clicking on ads.

I hope these questions spark some interesting discussion. Cheers!

    1. If the trend shows an increase in ad clicks / earnings corresponding to an increase in bounce rate, its good. Else not. They aren't totally inversely proportional, there could be bounces with visitors leaving the site without clicking ads.

    2. On a membership site, per TOS, you cannot place ads on sign up and thank you pages. On other pages, you should bring it to a balance where the message and links for sign up are clearly visible to visitors that these objectives are also met.
