Bounce rate is the percentage of web site visitors who arrive at an entry page, then leave without getting any deeper into the site.

So, percentage of web visitors who only see a page from your site and leave.

I don't agree with them how would google know them if you are not using google analytics. You may say google toolbar but that will be a lot of data to analyse.

Yes, lots of people are saying lots of stuff most of which is just bs ... but for me bounce rate is a problem - it could mean you're targeting the wrong keywords or you're adertising/exchanging links on the wrong sites.

unless you want people to click on the ads on your site instead of reading what your site is about..

I put extra ads on the entry pages of my site with the highest bounce rates..
as people leave my site anyway, I prefer to earn a bit on it
and have them click on an ad instead of using the back button of their browser..

High bounce rate is good for earning more money for your adsense account and high CTR I would say. People visits your site and just can't find what they looking for so there is high chance they will click on ads ;)

someone comes to your site and doesnt find what they wnat so they click an ad and are gone forever.

someone comes to your site, finds what they want, spends more time on the site, repeat visits, and many more chances for that visitor to click on a related offer.

    I win. You lose.

High bounce rate is never a good thing unless its a squeeze page or super thin affiliate site.

well not necessarily. adsense ad clicks will be counted as bounce rate..so if ur bounce rate is too low then it can be either your users are engaged with the content or you are not getting adsense clicks.

at the same time, people should be able to get to the content. So reasonable is better, very low isnt too good
