My site is powered by Drupal. I use GA module to track traffic. My bounce rate is constantly around 0.5% - 1% only since installation of Drupal a year ago. I am sure it must be a bug somewhere. I run also other Drupal sites in a similar niche and the bounce rate is about 50% or higher. I cannot figure out where and how to fix this discrepancy. If anyone is proficient in Drupal and GA please contact me. I will pay 50$ to get this problem analyzed.
Do you have a lot of videos on your site. This may keep people interested. Also I had a site with a 5% bounce rate and later found out it was traffic from Russia using my translater, and also they were trying to hack my wordpress site by using some type of backdoor software thru the comments. Lucky they never broke thru
Although I dont know anything about drupal, I'd assume it's built like most CMS. Rather than using an out-of-the-box module, why not just write the GA code into the footer? A quick read leads me to believe you can access your footer like this: (Administer > Site configuration > Site information), then paste the code into the footer message box.
Out of curiosity, is Google ranking your site incredibly well organically? I have my suspicions about bounce rate and organic rankings being closely interrelated, just a hunch though.
Do you have a delayed redirect? From my understanding it looks at single page visits divided by total visits. If the CMS is forcing visitors to look at one or more pages, that could be the cause.
