Bought my first laptop

Well I did it. I broke down and bought my first laptop. It was a used refurbished IBM. I like the little pinhead pointing device on IBM. I paid $407.00 including shipping. It was a PIII 1.0ghz, 512 mb ram, 14.1" TFT screen, 20 gig hard disk, DVD-ROM, Win XP Pro.

I have a new desktop I just bought in July after my stuff got fried during an electrical storm. Even when it was plugged into a Triplite battery back up and surge protectors.

This will be my first laptop. It has S-Video so I can hook into a projector if need be if I do any presentations. I think 1.0 ghz will be fast enought to do word processing and surf the net. I'll need to get a PCMCIA card for wireless connectivity though.

I tried buying several on UBID but couldn't get the price I wanted. The auction format seems to be a big waste of time. Especially on UBid where they extend the auction for an additional 10 minutes. That's totally lame. Good for them though, bad for the bidder.

I bought the laptop from a place called, Dealshooter.com. I searched briefly on the net for any positive or negative feedback about them. I couldn't find anything. I looked at their domain whois information and it showed it registered since 2004.

I took the risk and I'll have to wait and see what happens. I emailed them and haven't heard back from them. But this was at 9 pm est. So if it's a one man operation that's understandable. Time will tell what the outcome will be.

I hope you get a lot of use out of your laptop.
I bought mine in August for just about $1400 from Dell.
I've used it one week and not once since.
What a waste. I never should have gotten it.
I bought it to bring on a week long trip.
