i think its a waste of time. low CTR and the ad is positioned in such a way that it is hardly grabbing any attention. although gender and age sounded like a good idea...

i spent $70 testing different products with text ads that work in adwords - didnt get a single sale :(

Honestly I can't even tell you if it was worth it. I already use Facebook for marketing purposes so it was hard to say what % actually came from those ads.
I would bet more then a spent on the ads that I got a low return on investment.
I will make an educated assumptions that maybe .001% or .002 % of all the Facebook traffic I showed in the images were in fact from my ads.

These Face book users don't see the ads! They're clicking from picture to picture and that's about it.

I would say the traffic came from my facebook groups, and mind you the group advertising is free! I have 4 or 5 groups with large numbers of people in them.

It's hard to say what the results were but I wouldn't do it again. I can get right in their faces without even paying and when I pay it's chucked to the side lol what's the point right?

there is no way to track facebook sales. they dont have any conversion tracking.

I made a few sales on PPC, Flyers are a waste of time as the CTR is extremely low

    Long Story short.

Facebook advertising is horrible You will get maybe what? 3 visitors for $15. Thats $5 per visitor. Don't even BOTHER with facebook ads. They only want large corporations advertising with them.

I think it all depends, there are some people that loose money and others that gain.

The fact that your ads (that you're paying for) may appear when someone is just flipping through another user's images, that's really frustrating.

They may only be on that page for around a second as they quickly look over the photo.

Alas, Facebook will make a bunch of cash off this deal, so I doubt much will change.

I'm sure they will make a better program...

although it will cost the end users big bucks for now, while they continue testing! ;-)

It appears they've changed the way they do 'flyers' since the OP posted. I'm doing a CPC campaign... which is good because I've had 10,000 impressions with only 1 click... which is bad. Anyone get lucky with Facebook yet?

You can track 3rd party traffic sources like this using Google Analytics for free.

    Good luck!

Thanks for trying out the Facebook advertising and reporting back alexei_aus. I was actually thinking about purchasing some advertising from them, but I don't think I will now. In theory it would be great (targeted gender, age group, etc.) but it seems like the Facebook users aren't paying much attention to the ads or aren't the right type of people to be advertising to.

The only thing i see that may be good is as previously mentioned; Branding

If you have a good site/product, or something unique this will be good for getting your name out there. It won't be amazing though. Still, it's always good to try and see a positive.

I recommend buying ad/banner space on sites/blogs/forums that your target audience visit. Check the DP forum for some good banner/link sales. There may be something good for you there at a similar price for a month or so :)

I only purchased 15 usd worth of adds to so try and remember that. But overall I do get more traffic from my groups! I think. I seriously don't know what the traffic would be like if targeted right and had a large budget.
