Bought Domain - PR1 on 1st Day - How?

I picked up a domain last week from GoDaddy, to my surprise within 2 days it jumped to a PR1. How is that possible, it wasn't near a PR update, and I can't find any backlinks for the site?

I thought maybe someone owned the domain before, let it expire, and it went back on as a normal domain on GoDaddy, but the link juice from the previous owner is still flowing?

    Any ideas?

Google updates it's algorithms more often than is publically published. It's possible that you timed the purchase of the website with a time when there was an unofficial Google update happening.

Thanks for the replies, I looked into the whois data, looks like someone else owned this domain in the past and had links built for it, so I had linkjuice from Day 1.
