I'm about to create a website for a business i'm starting to create. I will be doing websites, logo design, illustrations, and who knows what later on. It will mainly be used as a portfolio to show work examples and to drive new business. I came up with the business name of silver divide and have since purchased the domains silverdivide.com and silverdividestudios.com. I bought the 2 based on the first being short and simple and the latter for it referencing it being a design studio. Question is how should i set up up the domains as well as portray my company name in marketing collateral ie business cards, flyers etc? I was thinking of having one of the domains be redirected to the other, in which order I don't know. Should I keep it simple with the marketing materials by having it be as simple as silver divide? This all may be personal preference but any input would be appreciated! Thanks
Base everything around silverdivide.com. People only add a third keyword on domains they can't acquire the two (or fewer) domain for. The fact you have both is a feather in your cap, but its all about your main brand for sure. "Silverdivide" is definitely a solid branded name - cool and stylish. Just my opinion...
Thanks triggerman, I really appreciate the feedback. I'm glad to hear you like the name. I was a little hesitant at first being it somewhat generic, but am happy to hear my intuition wasnt in left field that day!
You're right, it's all personal preference. Most people stick with shorter names, so I would forward the longer domain to the shorter domain, and use the shorter domain for all marketing materials.
