Borders around containers

    Hi there,

I have a question that's been bugging me for a while now.

I want to create a border around a page container and have content set within it, but justy adding border: 10px solid whatever (or specifying left, right etc) seems to cause problems with the footer not reaching the full width of the container and secondly, it seems to cause all kinds of problems in IE6.

So...is there a way of setting a container within another container so the colour from the container beneath it is seen around the edges. Or is there another way to go about achieving this?

I'll gladly clarify if this sounds a bit confusing!

Hi there - link in profile (not the home page but the categories).

I want to create the effect of a border all around the wrapper, as you can see I've tried to do.

A horizontal scroll bar appeared in IE6 when I added borders using border-right and border-left, so I tried another way by having a container underneath and set thinner, so its background appeared around the edges. But this still doesn't look too solid in my opinion.

It looks fine in IE7/Firefox/Safari but I know there must be a better way of achieving this effect.

Even after the changes, I still have a problem in IE6 with the footer not spanning the full width. Also in IE6, the left and right border effect isn't the right size (probably because I've not done it the best way!)

    Any help would be appreciated.
