I realized my conversion rate was .2% at around 350 hits per day. By conversion I mean percent of people that purchase something off my site. After some thought I figured it might be better if I focus on increasing conversion to .5% and increasing traffic to 1000 per day. Here are a few things I plan to do: * Clickbank has a hoplink generator that looks like adsense ads. I used them before, but didn't like it because I couldn't control where the links were sending people. However, they got a lot of hits. * So, I think they work, but I put things like "bodyweight" in the keywords. I'll put the actual product name as the keyword, this way it's more likely to point back to the product. * I'm going to work on a bonus. All I know how to write is workouts. So I need a balance between too much and too little. 100 workouts is like a seperate eBook, but 10 workouts is nothing. * Is there any way to post a claim where I say "My site is the best source for home fitness information!" How would I back such a claim up? * Video skimming - on the presell pages, I want to create some videos promoting the product. Here is one I did before: http://blip.tv/file/2393876 Here's the big idea: * Lots of smaller, SEO rich articles published at a higher frequency. For example, today I was planning on writing "5 reasons why you should perform Quick Workouts for Big Muscles." So that could easily be 5 different articles all with the keywords "quick workout big muscles". Seo is definitely my long term weapon that will help me out with this. I get around 50% of my traffic from search alone. What do you guys think of these ideas, and are there any other ideas out there?
.2% is not bad, but it is a pretty low conversion rate. Maybe the product you're promoting doesn't convert well, or maybe it's the way you promote it. But it depends on traffic, how much targeted it is, the way you pitch it and other factors as well. A decent converting product should get you a conversion rate of at least 2%. I think the niche you're in might play a role in this, the bodybuilding niche is very competitive, and it can be pretty hard to get good conversions with it. It's good that you're taking action on improving the conversion rate, I hope it works out for you.
Perhaps another thing is to make a better SEO optimization of your website. Keyword rich articles, obviously with your niche keywords, this way you could increment your visits, therefore the copnversion rate might increase as well. Good Day
hi, with very tight targeting you should get more than 2%, definately. Is you website traffic very targeted? dave
Thanks man. First of all, I'm not in the bodybuilding niche. I'm in the home fitness niche, which is about to become really competitive, but not yet. I did look at the products, and I cut products from 8 to 2 (with one testing product). These two products are actually more expensive than the ones I was promoting heavily, but they have slighlyt higher conversion rates.. I decided not to look at conversion rates alone, but instead see how much it would take me to hit $100 target. For example, here's the conversion data for one of my products: Turbulence * Conversion Rate: 1/140 * Average $ per Sale: $46.76 * Hops need to make $100: 299 as opposed to: Gladbody - * Conversion Rate: 1/132 * Average $ per Sale: $18.37 * Hops need to make $100:719 Both are very similar products, similar conversion rates, but with different price points. It's obvious that Turbulence is the one I need to sell, so I dropped Gladbody (even though I really like the product, and the coach). Coach seriously needs to rethink his strategy, or maybe he won't because he has 6 ebooks out. Even if he sells just 1 copy of each a day, he's living comfortably (lol). But this is not the best for affiliates. So yeah, I've dropped most of my products. I think SEO is the way to go, since I wrote a Chest article the other day, which was ranked on google on the first page, #9 and is starting to get some nice traffic from seo. It's still up there so I know it wasn't just a sandbox. Another one I wrote last night is on page 3. So, google loves me, so I should take more advantage of it. Thanks!
