Many directories will charge the same for standard text-links. $100 may seem like a lot now but when the ball gets rolling $100 is going to seem very small indeed.

 

I agree with the others. You need to lower the price to get things rolling, then slowly raise it.

Also, it'd be nice to see a list of purchased pics. I browsed a few categories and didn't see any, but didn't feel like going through ALL of them just to see if any have been sold yet.

 

With $35 you can get into one of the best directories around in a page with pr5-pr4 yes I think that even $50 is to much

 

Ok... so tell me, how much would you pay for a link? I've already sold a few at the full price so those guys are gonna be fairly stiffed when they see me dropping the price....

 

At this moment with your Alexa and your Backlink count $0
If you get down more than 100,000 on Alexa and get some PR5 – PR6 links I think you can get around $25-$30 a link

Good ideas guys... everyone was complaining about the price, so since I'm likening my directory to a stock exchange I might as well operate it like one too!

Have revised the pricing structure so that the current price is in line with the demand: $5... This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and the ad's will be displayed on the page according to the purchase price.

This should actually work out quite well (thanks for the idea) because when the auctions begin the prospective advertisers will not only be trying to out-bid each other, but they'll also be trying to set a new record price for that category so that their ad will be displayed in the best position on the page.

Have also added the list of current advertisers, for your curiosity!

 

It's funny because I had just been thinking about this idea yesterday, but with text links. I wasn't sure whether I could get enough interest though. It will be interesting to follow how well you do. Good luck!

 

why just follow what I'm doing? Why not be a part of it? It's only $5, and there no limit to how much you can 'sell' your space for? Surely it's worth the risk?
