http://thenewslink.com/?q=node/13 A 2,800 foot span across Lake Champlain, connecting New York and Vermont was blown up this morning. The New York State Department of Transportation decided that the demolishion should be broadcast live on the internet for all to see.
WOW! They certainly took care of that bridge in a few seconds. So 3,400 commuters must use a ferry service and then what; use a bus on the other side? Why didn't they just build a new bridge alongside it? Here in the Bay Area they aren't blowing up the entire Bay Bridge to San Francisco. They are building alongside it. Oh well. Good luck with the drive.
That was a cool explosion, and I feel really sorry for all those people that will have to travel in other ways now.
It takes months / years to create or build something but destruction takes no time. At least they should have made some worthy alternative before demolishing the present one to avoid inconvenience to the commuters.
