Books on Linux Server Management

Basically from what I have seen, managed servers are a bit more costly than unmanaged. So I believe managing a server could be a complex task. Now I am looking for some books that would help me to learn starting my own linux hosting company. Can any of you please help me out with some names of books? It would be really nice of you...

    Best regards

Maybe, but you need to tell us exactly what kind of Linux distribution you plan to use. Get ready for some months of studying and practising though.

Let me give you an advice, do not read books, they will waste your time.Install a distro to your box(desktop), then try to do your daily tasks with that box.You will learn basic commands and you will start bash scripting.

The Linux Documentation Project, http://tldp.org/, is an excellent place for this. There are HOWTOs, mini-HOWTOs and even books that cover virtually anything you might need. There will be lots of documentation on things that you haven't even thought of yet.

Distro-specific books aren't that useful and become outdated pretty fast. However, I'd recommend getting an O'Reilly book that covers a certain area of system administration. An area such as Apache, or PostgreSQL, or Firewalls etc.

I really don't think managing a server is complex task. But nobody will spend time free for others, thats why most of them asking management fees...
