Bookmarks Vs Google SERP

Hi Guys,

I had heard that Social bookmarks do not help to increase SERP. Is that true? Please advice me.......

Social Bookmarking, when being done propperly, can be very useful for SEO - First, some of the links are defenitely being indexed by Google. Secondly - attractive links might drive people to your website and more traffic means better rankings

same here, social bookmarks can help alot but only if done correctly (i mean no spamming and mass bookmarks)
and remember quality is 1000 time better than quantity

 

Social Bookmark could give you benefits in SEO term

1. It does help you site and the new content to be indexed much faster. This benefits is not as always but most likely. I would recommend you to avoid submit such as BS to social bookmark just for index or your domain would be banned permanently.

2. It does pass some link juice - I could say only major social bookmark such as Digg may benefits you in this case. Why only major? Becasue most of major bookmark has a restrict on quality with the submitted content. They do always (and quickly) done in remove BS submission. That's why search engine give some favor to them. As I always said - The more editorial, the more domain power could be.

3. It does send you traffics - If your submitted is not that BS then it would attract some amount of visitors to your site. If your submitted has been favored and being pushed on the front page, a huge spike of traffics would come. It could mean that content page would get some links from other sites.

Even Social Bookmark has a lot of potential I would recommend not to rely only with them. Social Bookmark cannot help your site go and stay permanent in top 10 for high competitive keywords. It just a part of whole SEO process.

 

I have also heard that links from social bookmarking is given less priority by google.Any body has any experiences...?

In my experience, they are extremely useful in gaining temperory SERPs for news articles ( in addition to a lot of direct traffic of course )
They make your SEO more natural.
and they also help in long term rankings.

 

If bookmarks is dofollow, it will be helping you! e.g digg.

 

I think it works. I use digg. flicker... stumble..... and it works fine. I think you can have a try
