I got an email about Bookmarking Demon 4 Beta.

Downloaded the BETA and took a test drive.

    Beginner mode (simply less options)

    Expert mode

Preference screen to cloak submissions (similar to AutoStumble).

Looks like proxy harvesting has been removed. That was one of the best features of BMD. The ability to harvest and test proxies. Maybe it will be available in the gold edition, I don't know.

Note: Pligg sites seem to be disabled for the time being. This is probably part of the missing functionality in the beta. Also the pinger may or may not work. And it looks like any target scraping may also be removed.

BMD4 runs from a directory, it doesn't need to be installed. Of course, I uninstalled my BMD3 first (ugh) to be safe before running the EXE. Anyway, they can run side by side but BMD3 is supposedly dead in 3 weeks.

I have never used it before. Is it any good?
I don't like to run applications from developers I don't know. Is it safe?

It's safe. It takes a while to build up accounts, but once you have accounts and sites setup, you can pump out a lot of backlinks.

    You didn't give a link: http://bookmarkingdemon.com/

At $97 you'd want to be sure you were going to use it properly. So does it just automate social bookmarking?

It automates mass social bookmarking. Pinging. Link cloaking. Mass registration.

It's only $97 until Version 4 comes out, then it will be $147. Since they just released a new BETA today with bug fixes, the time to get it is now.

I get errors when trying to bookmark.

"No Login profile was found on BMD server for social bookmarking site: [SOCIAL SITE] "

It lists that error dozens of times each time with the error for each site like delicious, searchles, etc.

I did give a link. In my sig. When I mentioned it, you called it sig bait and edited my post. That's a new one for me. I can't seem to find sig bait in the forum rules.

If it's in the rules, I apologize. If not, maybe the rules need updating.

Around 50 or so, so far. When its out of beta, it will probably let you add more if you discover them.

I've been looking at this software for awhile. I bought BD3 and returned it when BD4 wasn't released as hyped. I will wait until the full version is out - I'm hoping it's not vaporware because this looks like it could be awesome.

Well, I can go into the accounts.. like how if you go to user.stumbleupon.com you'll see all the sites you've bookmarked
I can go into each and every bookmarking site on the list and see the links

now, with that said.. if you make fresh accounts, they will take a while for the links to show up in the index.
but to answer your question, I would say a good 90% show up, but then again, with new accounts you'll have to wait
if you make new accounts and promote those accounts a little, they will show up quicker.

    hope that answered your question

if you bought it with version 3 was out, you should be able to get version 4
I had bought it oh... about 5 months ago, and I was able to login and get the latest version

Its awesome: it does what it says and its been a complete rewrite from V3 to V4 - that's why its taken so long. Obviously the links are failry low quality just being from social bookmarking (and phligg sites to come this time too I think) but its so easy to use and quick IF you buy it and dont like it you can always return within 60 days to get refund - same as any clickbank product

Have you tried messing with the latest version?
I wasn't impressed with the earlier versions, wouldn't even mention that I had it, I've used it on some new sites and seen positive results.

I agree LOCOM. I've been using BMD 4 to great effect, and have emailed Edwin about adding some features.

After reading this interesting thread, several questions popped up and I would be happy if anyone could answer these:
    1. With the recent banning of some people (a.k.a. spammers) and the closing of their accounts on several of the popular social-bookmarking websites, how realistic is it that the moderators spot someone using software for mass social-bookmarking and delete their accounts too?
    2. Does BMD have a fixed list of social-bookmarking websites or is it possible to modify or perhaps even import a list? How big is the list?
    3. Does BMD indicate which social-bookmarking websites applies the nofollow to links or which social-bookmarking website uses URL redirects (such as the Pligg-based websites)?

That's a good selling point, expecially after having read these somewhat disappointing Bookmarking Demon reviews.
