I started adding a javascript "bookmark this page" type link to some of my sites. After thinking, you don't see it all that often, I started to wonder if there was an SEO reason. Yes I realize there are already perfectly good ways to bookmark built into the browser. It just seems like in certain spots, not having it is like a salesman finishing his pitch and not asking for the sale. That's one spot where I put it. If there is an overview section of the site or page or product... This site is so bloody frickin wonderful you will want to bookmark it so you can visit it again and again and again till your head explodes. ...or something to that effect. So I'm curious. Is it considered spammy by webmasters, users, spiders and snakes?
The one I have is a javascript one. Since I understand new machines are not coming with javascript loaded I have been trying to remove javascript from most of my pages. I have one site with the following showing at bottom of homepage Bookmark this site! Browser must be java enabled. Shannon
Could you please elaborate on that? AFAIK, every windows box comes with javascript activated. They do come withouth the java machine installed, but this is something completely different. Java is not javascript. Also, IMO, I think many people does not use the javascript bookmark script because: it looks too much Web 1.0; it's deceptive as it only works with IE, visitors using diferent browsers will see the button as broken, it does not worj for them.
For Firefox users you can have the javascript popup message saying to press CTRL+D rather then have it blank when clicked.
Hi there i've been looking for the javascript code to add a "bookmark" link on my sites....could anyone provide it pls!!?
